Gauteng Industrial Symbiosis Green Enterprise Equipment Grant
Supporting eligible small, micro and medium enterprises in Gauteng with machinery and equipment to strengthen waste minimisation, waste management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, cleaner production and resource efficiency.
About the grant
The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Environment, invites eligible SMMEs and businesses based in Gauteng to apply for support through this grant.
The grant assists qualifying businesses with the procurement of machinery or equipment that addresses a specific operational need related to waste minimisation, waste management, climate change mitigation or adaptation, cleaner production or resource efficiency.
There is no prescribed equipment list. Applicants must identify the machinery or equipment they require and demonstrate how it will support their qualifying business activities.
Who can apply?
The call is open to registered and operational SMMEs and businesses located in Gauteng and involved in qualifying green economy activities within any industry.
Eligible activities include:
Eligibility requirements:
- The applicant must be a South African citizen.
- The business must operate within the green economy sector.
- Proof of compliance with South African Revenue Service tax requirements must be submitted as at the closing date.
- The business must be a registered entity and currently operational.
- The business must be physically located and conduct business within Gauteng Province.
- The business must qualify as a small, medium or micro-sized enterprise under applicable South African regulations.
Application requirements
Applications must be complete and accompanied by all required supporting documentation. The application pack will specify the full list of documents required.
- A completed application form.
- A description of the business and its waste minimisation, waste management, climate change, cleaner production or resource-efficiency activities.
- A description of the machinery or equipment required.
- An explanation of the specific operational or business need that the equipment will address.
- Requested equipment with a total value not exceeding R96 600 including VAT.
Selection process
Applications will be assessed after 21 September 2026 by an appointed selection committee against the programme's approved eligibility and selection criteria.
The assessment will consider:
- The applicant's eligibility.
- The identified operational or business need.
- The relevance of the requested machinery or equipment to the applicant's qualifying activities.
- The information and supporting documentation submitted.
